Tallahassee

I bought cymbidium orchids from Santa Barbara Orchid Estate. Cymbidium orchids generally prefer cool weather, but the winter in Tallahassee is too warm for those orchids to feel comfortable. I only tried growing a few heat-tolerant hybrid species. When I left Tallahassee, I gave these plants to my best friend. The photos were taken from his backyard.

Kaiserslautern

Where is Kaiserslautern? It is a small city in south-west Germany not far away from Frankfurt. People in Kaiserslautern love orchids, for one sees phalaenopsis orchids from behind almost every window in the city. I bought my own from lidl.

Seoul

I bought tulip bulbs in Amsterdam and grew them on the ceiling floor of the KIAS dormitory. Tulips needs a cold climate in winter, otherwise they are awakened in the winter and won't grow in the ensuing spring. Seoul is not very cold in the winter. Geographically, Seoul almost lies on the southernmost border where tulips may grow.
